B&E: So as a group CEO & MD, how much do you believe in independence of shareholding or rather, promoters in managing the company. Having said that, how much is your personal stake in the company? BSN: As far as Shopper’s Stop is concerned, right from the very beginning in 1991, the Rahejas handed over the reins of the business to me, to start and run the show. At that time, both youngsters – Ravi and Neil were in college, and by the time they actually came into the business, Shoppers Stop have been a professionally run successful business. The Rahejas do not control the full business, so it is important to have succession planning in place, because if something happens to me, Ravi & Neil won’t come and takeover the business. As far as I am concerned I own just 0.8% of the company.
