Jet created a lot of drama as it retrenched and later brought back some 850 employees last year when the government promised to help. But after the government enforced drastic cuts in ATF prices, airlines in fact developed cold feet initially when it came to reducing ticket prices. More recently, when RBI started cutting interest rates, and looked towards the banks to follow the lead, it only got a “Who, me?” expression in return!
UPA missed a great opportunity to make Indian companies world beaters. Rather, much remains the same or even worse after the UPA touch. And if Indian business has actually delivered in these years (at least before the slowdown), this government can claim little credit.
